Steps to upgrade kernel:

• Get latest commit for kernel being tracked by checking https://git.proxmox.com/?p=mirror_ubuntu-kernels.git
• Set linux module to this commit, and commit change:

git update-index --cacheinfo $commit,linux
git commit -m 'Upgrade kernel to Ubuntu $version`

Steps to upgrade zfs

• Get commit of release you want to use by checking https://github.com/openzfs/zfs/releases
• Set zfs module to this commit, and commit change:

git update-index --cacheinfo $commit,zfs
git commit -m 'Upgrade zfs to $version`

Update changelog

• Update debian/changelog to add changes, ex:

pve-kernel (6.8.12-4) generic; urgency=medium

  * Update to Ubuntu Linux 6.8.0-92.93
  * Downgrade to zfs 2.2.7 to track pve 8.4
